The Throop Funeral Home in Ravenna was built in 1964 by Harlind Throop for his son & daughter in-law Clark & Mina Throop to start a business and a family, to have community ties and be a part of the community they served.
In September of 2005, after working for other independent funeral homes for 10 years, I decided it was time to take a chance and leave my hometown of Ludington, MI, to move my family and venture out on our own. I was told there was a small town funeral home for sale in Ravenna, MI. Upon telling my wife, her first words were "Where the heck is Ravenna?" After meeting with Clark & Mina Throop and the Throop Family, it was decided by Mina that a young family (my family) was the only one that would be owning the Throop Funeral Home. My family purchased the business on January 1, 2006 and changed the name to Throop Funeral Home of Ravenna, Inc.
We intend to continue the Throop Family tradition of serving our community. We will personally provide care and compassion to all of the families we serve and hope to become part of your family as well.
Ask my wife now about Ravenna and she will tell you, "It's our home, our community and our friends".
