Obituary

Richard (Dick) Ritz – 78 years. Passed away on May 22, 2014 to his heavenly home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 12, 1935 in Conklin, MI. His parents were Albert (Cap) and Bernice Ritz. On June 22, 1957 he married his wife of 56 years, Sandra Talmadge in Conklin, MI. Dick was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conklin, MI for his entire life. He was a machine repairman at General Motors, retiring in 1992. Dick enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends, polka dancing, traveling, woodworking, winemaking, and hunting. Dick will be dearly missed, but the memories he gave his family and friends will be cherished forever. He is survived by his wife Sandy; his children – Dennis (Anne) Ritz of Hemlock, MI, Don (Teresa) Ritz of Nunica, MI, Debbie (Tom) Holland of Jenison, MI, Diana (Chuck) Miller of Wausau, WI, and Doug (Kim) Ritz of Hudsonville, MI; his grandchildren – Abe, Andrea, Alyssa & Luke Ritz, Kaylee (Josh) Lockwood, Stacy, Trisha, Ben and Lizzy Miller; his great-grandchild, Braxlee Lockwood; his brother – Wendall (Donna) Ritz of Garland, TX; his sister – Wanda Ritz of Washington Twp, MI; his brothers-in-law – Ted (Carol) Talmadge and Tom (Jean Johnson) Talmadge; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters – Alva (Kent) Haystead and Eunice (Fernando) De Alba, and his in-laws – John and Ruth Talmadge. Funeral services for Dick Ritz will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00am with Reverend Mark Oswald officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Throop Funeral Home of Ravenna from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm. The family will also be at the church for one hour prior to services on Wednesday to greet friends. Memorial contributions are asked to be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
