Obituary

Edward John Marshall aged 69 of Hesperia, formerly of Ravenna, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Ed was born on December 12, 1949 in Muskegon, one of 9 children born to Seth and Ruth (Featherly) Marshall. He attended Ravenna High School before serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict with the United States Army. In 1971 he married Janet Hodges and they have celebrated over 47 years together. Ed was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Hesperia American Legion Post 411 and retired as an Iron Worker for Local 340. Ed was an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, and Saddle Bronc Rider. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ed will be deeply missed by his wife Janet, his daughter Stacey Heiss and husband Jeff of Coopersville, his son Adam Marshall and fiancée Crystal Tousignant of Hesperia, his grandchildren Grace and Sophie Heiss, his brothers Jim, Tom, Mike, Dan (Jackie) Marshall, his sisters Pat (Ben) Vanderweid, Judy (Buddy) Raphael, Georgia (Roy) Ruiz, and Lori (Scott) Kuznicki, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 28 at Throop Funeral Home of Ravenna. Burial will take place at Hilton Cemetery. Friends may gather with his family on Thursday from 3:00 pm until time of services at the funeral home. Those who wish to make a donation in memory of Ed are asked to consider the Hesperia American Legion Post 411.
