Kenton Bruce Avery age 89, of Ravenna died Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Poppen Hospice Residence in Muskegon. Kenton was born on May 17, 1921 in Forest Grove, Michigan to the late John A. and Mary A. (Dean) Avery. Kenton served in the United States Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant from July 1943 to January 1946. He married Velma (Newell) Avery and she preceded him in death. He worked at Continental Motors for 20 years and retired as Plant Supervisor at C.W. Marsh after 17 years. Kenton is survived by 1 Son: Dayne (Pat) Avery of Fruitport and 1 Daughter: Karen (Richard) McIlrath of Muskegon; 3 Grandchildren: Christine Bittinger, Amanda (Mike) Ewer and David Avery and 3 Great Grandchildren: Joshua Bittinger, Tyler Avery and Daniel Ewer. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Kenton was preceded in death by: Parents, Wife Velma, 1 Daughter: Diane Avery and 1 Son: David Avery; also 3 Brothers: John, Melbourne “Tuck”, Gardner and 4 Sisters: Madge, Shirla, Virginia and Viola. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 1:00pm at the Throop Funeral Home of Ravenna. Burial will be at Sunrise Memorial Garden.
