Guestbook entries for Thomas John Herremans

I had the privilege to teach with Tom at Capac High School until he left for the west side of the state. Our students learned and loved Tom during his time there. He was an outstanding teacher and FFA advisor. I was lucky to have the opportunity to work with him. RIP Tom.

This man was bigger than life! I treasure all my memories from milker training school we put on together with his other Tom's Angels. His knowledge of mastitis and milking equipment was unparalleled. Unfortunately many of his MMPA family will not be able to make his funeral because our State Annual meeting is Thursday. Words fail to really convey how this man will be missed in the dairy industry.

Tom was a great friend of mine at MSU in the AGR Fraternity. In fact, I even nicknamed him "TJ" and it stuck while he was at MSU. I made a "road trip" with him and 3 other guys to New Orleans and Florida during spring break my senior year in 1968. I student taught in Ravenna and had his brother Paul as a student at Ravenna High School. The family welcomed me with open arms to dinner and supported me on my student teaching experience. I am indebted to the Herremans family for their love and support. Most of all, I will miss my friend, TJ. Pete Siler Tau chapter AGR 1968

My thoughts and prayers go out to Tom's loved ones. Tom had a big impact on me. I first met him in the late 1990s and he always pleasant and cheerful when I encountered him. He had a positive impact on me and many others who had the opportunity to know him.

My interactions with Tom were through NMC. I served on the NMC Board with Tom for several years. I always found him engaging, easy to chat with, and a great advocate for the dairy industry. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and friends. Best Regards, John

Tom has always been one of the persons that I was looking forward to seeing at meetings, particularly the NMC annual meetings. Such a nice man with a great sense of humor. We'll miss Tom in our mastitis community. The NMC award he received in 2014 was so well-deserved. I wish you all a lot of strength. Kind regards. In visiting with Tom he has given me many memories of a vital, interesting person who loved his children, grand children and great grandchildren. Each member of the family was important and he relished the time he could spend with them. I looked forward to spending time with him! He was caring and loving and his eyes would really light up when we talked about the bovine ..... I thought I knew about the biology of them but he kindly taught me much about them, dealing with people and what was important in life. A real "fighter" Blessings on him as he finds new zest without pain.

Letter to Tom: Dear Tom, Was saddened when I heard yesterday That you'd been so ill and passed away. My thoughts of us began in high school Our surnames; next to each, per the rule. Your winsome smile and easy humor Made being around you so much easier. Your drive to excel in even little things I especially noted in your deliberate writing. Your world of friends and acquaintances Far exceeded mine and one of your riches. Our friendship later was gladly renewed In the home Bible studies we were called to. These short years of our greatest memories Revealed the true purpose of our earlier lives. For we had not the right opportunity it seems To fellowship around what life truly means. Since then, though we lost contact with each The truth of those times always are in reach. For hidden to be discovered in God's word Is the real meaning of the cross; often blurred. That Christ came and died that we may live Becoming sin that we'd be free to forgive. Give of ourselves in becoming one with Him His life becoming our life; His Holy Spirit within. Living by the very faith of God to live His word Power to forsake all that is not God and absurd. The right to glorify God in all we would do or say And to become in Him, as He is, even gloriously. Though such a life of faith is yet deeply hid in Him Its reality is realized fully in Glory, as deep within. Tom, with you now having passed through the veil Aware of life anew; truly alive, as if free to ever sail For Heaven is the beginning of all of life's dreams Life isn't just felt so deeply or more than now seems. But in Christ, in Whom are hide all of life's treasures Far greater than we now yet could begin to measure Where the most glorious sunset would fill the sky with There in eternity is the reason for life and this our faith. Strangely, that you left on the day of my pa's birthday But the "uncanny" in life has its reasons, we can't say. But the day is coming, when "faith" will become "sight" The Truth, Way, and Life, will be fully revealed in Christ! For now, Tom, being where you may even here see this Thank you for your smile; you are now especially missed. rh

Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. Tom was one of the most kind and friendly people I have ever known. He contributed so much to the dairy industry, and many farmers are successful today because of his efforts.

Oh how sad my heart is today since I heard of Tom's passing. I pray for God to give his family and friends the strength to be able to adjust to life without him, but also to remember that he will always be with us in our precious memories of the time we had with him.

A Guide Star has been lost. I first met Tom as a 10th grade FFA student as we sat next to each other at the 1963 FFA State Convention as voting delegates. We talked, laughed and joked to a lasting friendship. We promised to return in two years to receive our State FFA Degrees. We kept our promise to each other and went on to service together as State FFA Officers, MSU students and fellow Ag teachers in Michigan. I was a guest at Tom's parents home, and easily saw where Tom got his work ethic and personality. Our careers changed, but Tom was a guiding force in my career choice and an encouragement in my teaching years. Thanks Tom, see you in Heaven my friend.

I and Anne are deeply sadden by TJs passing. Anne remembered going to a summer party at the farm back in 1969 with another Rhomate Mary Smith. He tried to gross us out by pulling up the floor door of the manure tank. He will be missed. We wish his family all the best. As all of our parents have passed on, we know how hard it is to cope.

Tom and Al came to Capac to begin their teaching career at the same time and lived in the same locations. Tom was a part of our wedding so we continue seeing his smiling face in our pictures. He was a great person and a great friend. He now is at peace and pain free. Prayers for the Herremans Family🙏

Tom was one of the most enthusiastic members of the Dairy Practices Council where he seemed to touch everyone he met. When you saw him, his smile and firm handshake often said it all, but he always had a story to tell or some bit of insight that could only come from years of experience. He became a friend and mentor to many and his energy, enthusiasm and smile will be greatly missed. Our hearts are with all his family and friends.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear Mr. Herremans. May you draw comfort from all the wonderful memories you shared and from our Heavenly Father, who comforts us during our trials, (Psalms 46:1) God promises to resurrect those who have fallen asleep in death, through his son Christ Jesus our Lord. (John 5:28,29) When Jesus was on earth he demonstrated his ability to resurrect those who died. He will do so again on a global scale during his Kingdom reign. (Matthew 6:9,10)

Tom was my fraternity brother and a wonderful person with a great spirit. He was compassionate about his brothers and fraternity life. Please accept my sincere sympathy to the family and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Over 20 years ago Tom had a vision of a milker training school for dairymen. He described that vision to me and asked if I could create some natural looking udders that could be used as a teaching aid. After some experimenting, the udders were created and Tom's milker training school became a reality. Tom had a passion for dairy farming and milk quality. He will be greatly missed.
