Earl Bentley 97 years young passed away (date) after a brief battle with Cancer, Earl was born to Ethyl Goodrich and Carl Bentley Sr. of Ravenna on Oct 25th 1918 in Grand Rapids MI. Earl’s education only went to the 8th grade where he was called to work in the farm fields with his siblings to help support the family. He served in the army from 1945 to 1947 in Texas as a hand to hand instructor, he was suited for this due to his being a Michigan Golden Glove champion and State weight lifting champion. His great love was music where he played various instruments but loved the fiddle and bass guitar. He played on the radio’s Saturday music show West Michigan Jamboree for many years playing the fiddle with a multitude of musicians. He retired from Sealed Power corporation after 32 years of being a supervisor, he also was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers, along with gardening, working in his pole barn and playing cribbage, loved to make turkey stuffing and scalloped potatoes and ham. And at 96 still hit the speed bag for 10 minutes every morning then smoked his cigar followed by a cup of super strong coffee! He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Wozny) Bentley of 34 years, Identical Twin brother Carl Bentley Jr of Casnovia, Daughter Sandra & Brent Cluchey of Pentwater, Son Mark and Heidi Bentley of Whitehall, Granddaughter Lindsey Bentley (cribbage student)of Muskegon, Grandson Tim and Wendy Cluchey of Pentwater, great granddaughters Terra and Crysta Cluchey. Stepfamily Judy and Lee Leiter of Muskegon, Bob and Brenda Wozny of Walkerville, Tony and Carrie Wozny of Traverse City, Don Wozny of Grand Haven, Special friends Bob and Tobe Pennell of Ravenna. He is preceded in death by Brother Lawrence Bentley, and sister Dorothy Young. A Graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 23. 2016 at 11:30am at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Muskegon.
