Felma Evelyn Gardiner age 101 of Muskegon went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2017 at North Ottawa Health Care Center at Heartwood Lodge.  She was born in 1916 to William Garfield Aishe and Edith Lovina Aishe on a farm near Croton, Michigan.  Felma attended Big Bend School through her first eight years of education then attended and graduated from Morley High School.  She then went to Osceola County Normal School for teacher training in Evart and finally attended and graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. Felma married John H. Gardiner in 1935.  To this union three children were born:  John Henry Jr., Sheilia Jean and Larry Dean Gardiner.  She was preceded in death by her husband John Sr.  son John Jr., daughter Sheilia Ankney, her parents William and Edith Aishe, brothers Roy Aishe and Jake Aishe, sisters Mary Towne, Saide Westgate and Lucy Bender. She is survived by her son Larry (Beverly) Gardiner, son-in-law Rev. James Ankney, 6 grandchildren, Larry (Jill) Gardiner Jr. of Kansas City KS, Gary Gardiner and Terry Gardiner both of Ravenna, Rebecca Ankney Pajonk of Coopersville, Susanna (Jeff) Rozema of Allendale and Esther (Justin) Lake of Caledonia, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Felma was a gifted chalk art artist.  She loved telling and demonstrating Bible stories and trained for this service under the teachings of Rev. Dingman Teuling and education at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago during summers.  She also taught children’s Sunday School Classes in her church for many years.  After retirement Felma spent winters with her daughter, Sheilia (Rev. James) Ankney, who served the Lord as missionaries in the Philippine Islands and Australia for 32 years. Felma was a busy and happy lady having taught in elementary schools in Muskegon and Mecosta Counties for thirty-eight years and one year in Australia.  She retired from teaching after working her last eleven years in Orchard View School in Muskegon.  What a lifetime of blessed experiences as she followed her Lord’s leading! Funeral service will be for Felma on Saturday, Aug. 5th at 11:00 AM at Faith Baptist Church, 3593 Whitehall Rd., Muskegon with Rev. James Swieringa and Rev. James Ankney officiating.  Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.  Interment will be 3:00 PM at Big Prairie Cemetery in White Cloud.
